Dr. Mian Iqbal Named Director of Graduate Education

Dr. Mian Iqbal (D'03), Assistant Professor-Clinician Educator of Endodontics and Director of the Postdoctoral Endodontic Program, has been named Director of the Division of Graduate Dental Education at Penn Dental Medicine. Dr. Iqbal succeeds Dr. Scott DeRossi (D'95) in this role, who left Penn Dental Medicine in July for the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. Dr. Iqbal's appointment was effective as of September 1.

The Division of Graduate Dental Education encompasses the School's nine postdoctoral programs, and in conjunction with the program directors, it oversees the policies governing the School's graduate dental education, monitors the quality of the graduate programs, and sets goals for enhancing them. The Division is also responsible for compliance of all its programs to the standards established by American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation. While much of the day-to-day administration of graduate dental study is conducted by the program directors and department chairs responsible for particular programs, the Office of Graduate Dental Education oversees and organizes the core curriculum for graduate students and maintains and manages all graduate student records.

Dr. Iqbal has been part of the Penn Dental Medicine faculty since 1999 and Director of the Postdoctoral Endodontics Program since 2000.
