Periodontal Prosthesis Residency

Program Overview

Program Director: Dr. Ernesto Lee
This four-year program is designed to provide postdoctoral students training in restorative/prosthetics, periodontics, and advanced implant restorative dentistry. Upon successful completion of the program, students are issued certificates in both fixed periodontal prosthesis and periodontics

The program attempts to integrate three essential areas: basic science, periodontics, and restorative/prosthetic dentistry. The basic science phase of the program includes a series of highly integrated core courses, presented at a level to enhance and expand on the student's knowledge of oral biology. Additional basic science courses specific to restorative dentistry are provided by the department.

The major emphasis of this program lies in clinical education to develop specialists who have a scholarly approach to clinical problems. Periodontics is the major focus of the didactic program in the first two years with emphasis on etiology, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

Interdisciplinary training is a hallmark of this program with faculty representatives from the departments of Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the Division of Restorative Dentistry in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, continually interacting both in the seminars and clinics.
