DMD Dual-Degree Options
The close association between the Penn Dental Medicine and other professional schools,
departments, and divisions of the University affords unique opportunities
for exceptional students able to meet the rigorous application standards
of both the Penn Dental Medicine and a second program at the University of Pennsylvania.
Students who wish to pursue a dual-degree program must gain approval from the Office of Academic Affairs before submitting an application for the companion program. Students should be aware that there is no guaranteed acceptance into a companion program. In addition, each program sets its own admission standards and acceptance into the DMD program does not constitute automatic approval for a companion program.
Doctoral Degrees in the Dental Sciences
Individualized programs can be created for those wishing to pursue study in the dental sciences beyond the master's level. Ph.D. programs are organized under the auspices of the Biomedical Graduate Group of the University of Pennsylvania; a mentor is then chosen from Penn Dental Medicine.
