Pediatric Dentistry Residency » Admissions

A DMD/DDS degree is required for admission to all graduate dental education programs. Applicants to pediatric residency program must also be graduates of an accredited U.S. or Canadian dental school.

Applying to the Program

All students can apply to the program through the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) with the American Dental Education Association via the PASS web site.

Application Deadline: October 1

In addition to the PASS application, applicants are required to submit the following to the Office of Graduate Education at Penn Dental Medicine for applications to be considered complete and presented to the Admissions Committee:

  • The Penn Dental Medicine Pediatric Residency Program Supplemental Application The supplemental application must be completed in full and submitted directly to the Office of Graduate Dental Education at Penn Dental Medicine.
  • Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT) ResultsThe Advanced Dental Admission Test is offered under the auspices of the Department of Testing Services, an independent agency of the American Dental Association. The ADAT will provide advanced education program directors with the ability to rank applicants in areas of interest using a nationally standardized and objective test.
  • A $90 non-refundable application fee – This fee must be submitted with the completed supplemental application; please note that the Office of Graduate Dental Education is unable, without exception, to waive this application fee. Checks or money orders (in U.S. currency) are payable to Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania.

Personal interviews are also part of the selection process. Candidates will be contacted to schedule interviews as needed. Applicants who wish to visit the program prior to the interviews may contact Rosalie Hilton hiltonr@dental.upenn.edu to make arrangements.
