Our hygienist is a critical member of the dental team. He/she will complete supragingival scaling and prophylaxis under both direct and general supervision. He/she will take digital radiographs for treatment planning and assist with patient education. He/she will be responsible for the transport and set up of all mobile dental equipment and supplies. The dental hygienist will sterilize all equipment and also be responsible for maintaining and ordering all the dental supplies.

Our dentists will be asked to create a professional and compassionate environment for delivery of preventive dental health care. He/she will perform clinical examinations, treatment plans, oral cancer screenings, assist with digital radiography, and oversee the dental hygienist in his/her responsibilities. Simple extractions and denture fabrication will also be performed at the dentist’s discretion. The dentist will assist in the transport and set up of all mobile dental equipment. The dentist will also ensure that all patient records are updated and kept confidential, referrals are properly made, and communication is clearly established between the dental team and the facility and its staff.

All equipment and supplies are brought to the facility by the dental team. The dental team is responsible for the compressor, sterilization equipment, digital radiography unit, laptop, dental and clinical supplies.

Full-Time Faculty Practice Director

Seeking applications for a Faculty Practice Office Director. This full-time, University Staff (non-classified) position is responsible for the management, coordination and monitoring of the business operations of the SDM Faculty Practice. The Faculty Practice has dental treatment rooms and related support services including laboratory, radiology, dispensary and business office.

The individual is responsible for maintaining the integrity of patient business data, monitoring the practice’s financial condition, preparing and analyzing practice financial statements, as well as making financial and business related recommendations of the practice. This position reports to the Director of the Faculty Practice.

Examples of Work Performed:

• Manage all assigned staff to include oversight of staff assignments, training, performance management and payroll reposting. Provide oversight of the direction and management of the front desk staff.
• Monitor program expenditures
• Coordinate the verification and deposit of cash revenue received by the program.
• Update patient accounting policies and procedures in conjunction with the SDM policy.
• Manage patient relations. Respond to patient inquires. Serve as problem solver and trouble shooter with any patient complaints.
• Serve as a liaison with patients and collection agency concerning delinquent accounts and resolve matters involving those accounts.
• Ensure that patient billing is performed on a timely basis and appropriate follow up procedures are performed to ensure collection of the accounts. Manage collections.
• Ensures that insurance predetermination’s and claim forms are completed and submitted on a timely basis and with appropriate follow up on unpaid claims.
• Maintain working relationships with dental laboratories. Track work sent to laboratories and make payments to labs in a timely manner.
• Approve routine expenditures (vouchers, purchase requests, etc.) and verify compliance with Faculty Practice, SDM and University policies and procedures.

Comments: The salary for this position starts at $71,643 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting or a related field. – Two (2) or more years of business/administrative experience in a dental practice or clinic. – Two (2) or more years of administrative supervision of support staff – Experience using dental practice management software and word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Substitutions: Directly related professional work experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis but not for the specific experience (2 years).

Preferred Qualifications: – Experience with dental and medical insurance benefits, billing and authorization. – Five (5) or more years of business/administrative experience in a dental practice or clinic. – Three (3) or more years of administrative supervision of support staff.

Competencies / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of general, financial, and personnel management principles and procedures in a dental services setting.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, faculty and professional personnel at all levels both internal and external.
• Ability to conceptualize operational problems and develop options for problem resolution.
• Ability to intervene in crisis situations and urgent matters with patients • Knowledge of computer and information technology as it relates to a dental practice and academic environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including reports.

Educational/Experience Certification Requirements:

•REQUIRED: Current Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) licensure from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry/Department of State Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs OR willing to obtain licensure within the first six months of employment.
•Must hold certification to perform dental radiologic procedures from the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
•Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply.
•REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program.
•Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
•Ability to organize, problem solve, handle multiple tasks, and function as a team member within established school, state, federal, and accrediting agency regulations, policies, and procedures.
