Support Penn Dental Medicine

Annual Giving
Your participation in the Penn Dental Medicine Annual Giving Fund makes a difference to the people who count on it the most – students. By providing essential support for the School's highest priorities, your generosity is critical to the School's success in adapting its programs to stay at the forefront of dental medicine.

Your commitment sustains Penn's preeminence in dental medicine, and advances the School's mission of preparing its graduates to become dentistry's leading clinicians, educators, and researchers.

Make your gift online, or contact Mary McCarron via email or at 215-898-8951 for more information.

Capital Giving
As part of the University of Pennsylvania's Making History campaign, Penn Dental Medicine seeks to raise $36 million in new resources. We will use this funding to evolve our curriculum, conduct groundbreaking research, attract faculty and students from around the globe and shape the leaders of tomorrow.

The new D. Walter Cohen and Morton Amsterdam Periodontal Clinic opened in December 2007. The new Brainerd F. Swain Clinic in the Paul V. Reid Department of Orthodontics opened in January 2006. A new Pediatric Dentistry Clinic opened in January 2002.

Planned Giving
Planned giving has enabled donors to make major gifts to Penn Dental Medicine in ways that have complemented their personal financial planning. Your support through a planned gift can also bring financial benefits to you by generating lifelong income; converting low-yielding assets into a higher income stream at a reduced capital gains cost; obtaining significant income tax deductions; and reducing or eliminating estate taxes.

Gifts made by will are one of Penn Dental Medicine's most important sources of individual support. Bequests can be made in the form of a specific gift of cash or property, or a percentage of the remainder of an estate. After a bequest, the simplest gift arrangement is a charitable gift annuity, which is a contract between Penn and the donor, providing for the payment of life income at a fixed rate. The donor receives an income tax deduction in the year of the gift, subject to the usual rules of deductibility. The donor may irrevocably contribute cash or marketable securities to establish a charitable gift annuity with a minimum contribution of $10,000. The annuity may have one or two income beneficiaries.
