h3. Course Description

While we were waiting for our elastic impression materials to set, a major revolution has been occurring in dentistry. Traditional methods of information gathering, treatment planning and therapy have been supplanted by digital workflows.
This lecture will discuss the new digital workflows in:
* Surgical planning
* CT guided surgery
* Impression making
* Model fabrication
* CAD/CAM fabrication of restorations

Upon completion of this presentation, the participants will be able to:
* Understand how computerized surgical planning can enhance surgical precision
* Understand the benefit of digital impression making
* Understand how models can be fabricated using digital technology
* List the many types of restorations that can be fabricated utilizing CAD/CAM technology
* List the restorative materials that can be used in CAD/CAM

In addition to Advanced Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry, Dr. Baumgarten also maintains a practice that includes advanced dental implant procedures, such as Immediate Implant Placement with Immediate Restoration and CAT Scan Guided Surgery. He is a consultant to Biomet 3i, a global dental implant company, and is involved in clinical research and product development. An active invited speaker, Dr. Baumgarten lectures regularly around the world, from New York to Tokyo. He’s also the author of a variety of chapters in dental textbooks, and a number of articles in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Baumgarten is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society, the Matthew Cryer Honor Society, the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Dental Association and the Philadelphia County Dental Society. |
