Keynote Speaker: Cancer Survivor Michael White
Michael White’s story began Thanksgiving week 2001. His wife was pregnant with their second child, his daughter was 15 months old and he was just diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Michael first heard these words when the technician shared the results of his neck biopsy and he quickly responded “Does that mean I don’t have cancer?” Over the course of the next ten months, Michael would learn the meaning of those and many new words such as radical neck dissection, feeding tubes, tracheostomy, radiation and chemotherapy. Michael is now a 12-year survivor of stage 4 oral cancer! Michael will share his experiences with his discovery process, treatments and recovery. He will share the challenges he faced 12 years ago, and the life altering impacts that stay with him through this day.
