Penn Implantology Continuum

This university-based course is designed to provide the general practitioner with beginner/intermediate level didactic and clinical instruction in the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry. The course is comprised of seven modules, and the topics will include:

  • Principles of Implant Surgery
  • Anatomic, Radiographic and CT Scan Analysis
  • Restoration of Dental Implants
  • Treatment Planning Sessions
  • Hands-on Surgical and Restorative Exercises
  • Live Demonstration – Surgery and Restoration
  • Live Patient Experience – Surgical and Restorative

This course will enable participants to:

  • Acquire the basic knowledge and clinical skills for the placement and restoration of dental implants.
  • Be exposed to advanced procedures and state-of-the-art techniques.

Methodology

Penn Dental Medicine faculty will lead each module, lecture on selected topics and guide discussion. Participants will be evaluated for competency, including examinations and case presentations.

Participant Requirements

Participants are required to have a license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania. The Application for a License to Practice Dentistry in the State of Pennsylvania can be found on the State Board of Dentistry website under Licensure Information. The following documents are required and must be faxed to the attention of the Office of Continuing Dental Education at 215-573-3882:

  • PA dental license
  • BLS certification
  • Certificate of liability insurance
  • Proof of seasonal influenza flu immunization
  • Proof of annual tuberculin test (PPD)
  • Proof of Clinical Bloodborne Pathogen Training. Training will be provided through the University of Pennsylvania
