Penn Dental Medicine in collaboration with Arrail Dental Group, China, presented the Global Penn Endodontic Symposium, June 7-9, 2013, in Beijng, China, drawing more than 600 attendees. Held at the Crowne Plaza Beijing Park View Wuzhou, it featured Penn Dental Medicine faculty and alumni discussing the leading-edge science and practice of modern endodontics.
The program included highly respected speakers on topics ranging from endodontic pathology to endodontic microsurgical techniques. In addition to the lectures, the symposium included a live patient demonstration of mandibular molar surgery under the microscope, telecast in 3D, and a full day of hands-on instruction in advanced microendodontics.
Penn Dental Medicine is considered the birthplace of modern endodontics with Penn Dental Medicine alumnus and professor Dr. Louis I. Grossman — widely considered the father of modern endodontic practice — paving the way for the birth of the specialty. Today, Penn Dental Medicine endodontics remains at the international forefront of clinical training and technology. Under the direction of Dr. Syngcuk Kim, the Louis I. Grossman Professor, Penn Dental Medicine has established itself as the leader in the integration of the operating microscope into conventional, and particularly, surgical endodontic education and practice, drawing students and clinicians from around the world to its programs. The Global Penn Endodontic Symposium brings that expertise to general dentists and endodontists worldwide to translate advanced scientific concepts and biological principles into daily endodontic practice.
The Beijing symposium was the ninth Global Penn Endodontic Symposium since 2010 with others held in India, Brazil, Japan, Poland, Germany, South Korea, and Taiwan.
