Penn Dental Medicine hosted The 5th International Congress on Adhesive Dentistry, June 14-15, 2013, drawing more than 550 attendees representing 20 countries. This was the first time the Congress was held in the United States, with Dr. Markus Blatz, Chair and Professor of Preventive and Restorative Sciences at Penn Dental Medicine, serving as the President of the 5th IAD and head of the organizing committee.
Under our motto “beauty and science,” the two-day program brought together clinicians, researchers, and the dental industry to discuss cutting-edge science and state-of-art esthetics (view scientific program). Topics ranged from scientific developments and future possibilities in dental adhesion to direct composites, and indirect bonded restorations, such as inlays/onlays and porcelain laminate veneers.
A total of 107 peer-reviewed scientific and clinical poster presentations on all aspects of adhesive dentistry were also part of the Congress. Proceedings of the Congress and the abstracts accepted for presentation will be published in a special supplement issue of the Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry this fall.
Two pre-congress, full-day, hands-on courses were also presented by Luiz Baratieri (Anterior Composite Restorations) and Didier Dietschi (Adhesive Posterior Direct and Indirect Restorations).
