Research Interests

Dr. Maggio is Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry-Clinician Educator in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences and the Director of Operative Dentistry. Currently, she is the director of the predoctoral first- and third-year operative dentistry courses, as well as the director of the predoctoral first- and second-year Advanced Simulation laboratory courses. Her primary research focuses are on the implementation and impact of advanced simulation in dental education and the use of microscopy/magnification and its effects on dental education. Dr. Maggio is a member of the American Dental Education Association, International Consortium of Navigational Dentistry, and the Consortium of Operative Dentistry Educators. She has presented her research as oral presentations and posters at major national and international meetings. Dr. Maggio has also led faculty workshops at major national meetings. In addition to her research and teaching activities, she is a practicing general dentist at the University of Pennsylvania’s Dental Care Network.
