Training:

Training for use of the Penn Dental Medicine Confocal Facility has two components:

1. Attendance of the Bioengineering training course

The Bioengineering confocal facility has a multiphoton laser confocal microscope manufactured by Biorad. Although there are differences between their set-up and ours, this training session offers information on how to use the Lasersharp acquisition software, use of the confocal, and the microscope. 2. Log in and check out by authorized Penn Dental Medicine confocal users

After attending the Training course, a new user should schedule time with a certified Penn Dental Medicine confocal user to be trained on use of the Confocal facility. If you do not know who is certified, please contact the facility director.

After proficiency with the confocal is demonstrated, the user can then operate the Penn Dental Medicine Confocal facility without supervision.
