Department of Pathology
Pathology
is the study of the nature of disease. The
field is recognized as both a basic biomedical science that identifies
disease mechanisms, and a clinical specialty that identifies the manifestations
of disease. Oral and maxillofacial pathology requires that the pathologist
assess cellular, molecular and genetic manifestations of disease in
order to diagnose and determine appropriate treatment.
Penn Dental Medicine's Department of Pathology is staffed by outstanding faculty committed to basic science behind and the clinical practice of
oral and maxillofacial pathology.
