Course Description:
|
|
When treating patients with systemic disease, it is important to understand underlying pathophysiology and recognize the clinical signs of disease in order to provide the highest quality patient care. It is critical for dental professionals to know how systemic disease impacts oral health and why the provision of oral health care often requires alteration for patients with medical disorders. In addition, these patients may experience medical emergencies while receiving oral health care and the dental team must be ready to manage such situations if they arise. Geared toward general dentists and dental hygienists, this course will provide updates on recent diagnostic and therapeutic advances of common medical disorders, highlight the impact of these disorders on oral health, and review protocols for managing medical emergencies in the dental office.
This course will enable you to:
- Improve your understanding of the pathophysiology of common medical disorders, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurological, and immunologic diseases.
- Learn about the most recent diagnostic and therapeutic advances for these common medical disorders.
- Recognize the impact of these common medical disorders on overall oral health.
- Manage common medical emergencies associated with these disorders should they occur in the dental office.
