Philadelphia – Dr. Beverley Crawford, Director of Diversity Affairs at Penn Dental Medicine, is the recipient of the 2012 National Dental Association Foundation (NDAF)/Colgate-Palmolive Faculty Recognition Award in the category of Administration/Service. The Recognition Awards, given in three categories, were presented July 20 as part of the National Dental Association’s Multicultural Oral Health Summit in Boca Raton, Fla.
The awards honor dental faculty who have demonstrated excellence in professional development and a willingness to support and help others in their quest for knowledge and advancement. The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Center for Equity and Diversity participates in the nomination and selection process for the NDAF Faculty Awards. These awards provide recognition of full-time dental faculty whose actions produce a balance between dental educators and dental practitioners through joint efforts of the NDA and the ADEA.
As Director of Diversity Affairs, Dr. Crawford heads student diversity efforts at Penn Dental Medicine, overseeing various student recruitment and mentoring programs, providing support and guidance to current students, and working with faculty and student leaders to strengthen interaction among diverse student organizations. Dr. Crawford is also a clinician within the Penn Dental Faculty Practices.
