Philadelphia – Advancing Penn Dental Medicine’s international leadership in dental aesthetics and adhesives, Dr. Markus Blatz, Professor and Chair of Preventive & Restorative Sciences at Penn Dental Medicine, has been named president of the International Academy of Adhesive Dentistry (IAAD). Dr. Blatz was officially appointed to this leadership post during the IAAD’s First Biennial Meeting on Adhesive Dentistry, held in September in Orlando, Fla.

“It is thrilling and rewarding to see our young Academy thriving, interacting at the highest scientific and clinical level, while setting the standards for the future of dentistry,” says Dr. Blatz, who was among the founding organizers of the Academy, which was established during the 5th International Congress on Adhesive Dentistry, hosted by Penn Dental Medicine under the leadership of Dr. Blatz in 2013. “The IAAD is an international platform of the most respected leaders and authorities in restorative dentistry from all over the world, focusing on translating the vast scientific evidence into clinical reality and providing guidelines for current and future dental treatment concepts. Our goal through IAAD is to help clinicians understand the science and tremendous potential of adhesive dentistry in contemporary clinical practice.”

This international Congress drew over 4,000 attendees from within Latin America and around the world; Dr. Blatz was among the invited speakers, presenting two lectures — “Material Update for Implant-supported Prostheses” and “Restorative Material Options for Aesthetic and Functional Success in Implant Dentistry.”

While in San Paulo for the IN 2015, Dr. Blatz also spoke at the 1st International Meeting of Aesthetic Dentistry.
