Philadelphia – Penn Dental Medicine student Syeda Bakhtawar (D’11) has been recognized with the Colgate Research Award 2010 by the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD). The award was presented to 10 third- and fourth-year dental students nationwide who have shown academic distinction and demonstrated excellence in research. The award winners were announced at the AAWD 89th Annual Meeting and Conference, June 24-26 in Chicago, received a $500 scholarship, and acknowledged in the organization’s Chronicle Newsletter. Established in 1980, the purpose of the award is to honor and encourage women in dentistry to excel in the field of research. The AAWD’s mission is to be the recognized resource for connecting and enriching the diverse lives of women dentists.
