JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the CEO or Dental Director, performs professional dental services in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients and performs related duties as assigned by the CEO or Dental Director. Diagnoses dental disease for admitted patients; establishes the plan for treatment and prevention of dental disease. At a minimum, these services include basic dental screenings and recommendations for preventive intervention; oral hygiene instruction and related oral health education; and topical application of fluorides or the prescription of fluorides for systemic use when not available in the water supply. Services may include applications of sealants, and diagnostic screening for carries and periodontal diseases through the use of dental x-rays. Additional dental services to diagnose and treat disease, injury, or impairment in teeth and associated structures of the oral cavity and include any diagnostic x-rays or imaging. These services may include fillings and single unit crowns; non-surgical-endodontics, extractions, periodontal therapies, bridges or dentures. Complex dental services (e.g., oral surgery, surgical endodontics, orthodontics) are considered specialty services and may be referred out. Performs other clinical duties as assigned.
