Anatomy & Cell Biology

The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine has an active program of basic science and translational research activities and a strong commitment to training young scholars.

Our department has accomplished research programs in diverse areas such as human mesenchymal stem cells for use in tissue engineering and clinical treatment, physiological approaches to understand the mechanistic steps of neurodegenerative disease, and craniofacial and bone development.

Our curriculum prepares students to become leaders in dentistry and research. Faculty in the department teach human anatomy, histology, head and neck anatomy, and neuroscience.
