Dr. Hellen Teixeira is an instructor and co-clinical director in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Teixeira is UPENN and NYU alumnus; she earned her M.S. in Biomaterials Science at New York University in 2013 and graduated with a Doctor of Science in Dentistry (DScD) and certificate program in Orthodontics at Penn in 2019. Dr. Teixeira’s research interests include: (1) Bone-biomaterials interaction, (2) craniofacial growth and development, (3) Biology of tooth movement, (4) synergy of Toll-like receptors, and (5) epigenetics. Dr. Teixeira is currently the author or co-author of more than 20 peer-reviewed articles in dentistry, biomaterials, biomedical engineering, and immunology journals. Dr. Teixeira has always considered the Department of Orthodontics at UPENN her second home and thoroughly enjoys teaching/mentoring dental students and the next generation of Orthodontics graduate students. Dr. Teixeira teaches predoctoral and postdoctoral students.
