This lecture will focus on the indications for implant placement at different times related to tooth extraction and the grafting protocols (hard and soft tissue) that are applied to maximize the results especially in the esthetic zone. Cases to illustrate the procedures will be presented and discussed. Protocols to achieve successful results for immediate implant placement in the esthetic zone will be covered in more detail. Surgical and restorative approaches have focused on the buccal aspect of immediate implants, however, the interproximal sites are a challenging scenario especially when the risk of papilla loss is high. A protocol to minimize papilla loss associated with immediate implant placement in challenging cases will be presented and discussed.
