The educational budget, as outlined, is revised annually.
Tuition
Covers full-time attendance at Penn Dental Medicine.
General Fee
A General Fee is assessed to all undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, and directly funds Penn’s non-instructional student support services. The General Fee for full-time students provides them with full access to a wide variety of services and resources, including counseling and wellness, multicultural resource centers, student activities, recreation and fitness, career services, learning support, and much more.
Instrument Management Service Fee
Charge over four years for all required instrumentation and sterilization services. IMS charge is higher in the first and second years in order to purchase additional required dental equipment.
Technology Fee
Established to advance and improve technology at Penn Dental Medicine.
Dental Clinical Fee
Covers a variety of expenses related to clinical and preclinical practice including disposable gowns, lab coats, materials and other expenses.
Room and Board
Allowance reflects an average cost of room and board.
Books and Supplies
Includes required textbooks, classroom supplies and lights and loupes.
Personal
Includes blood pressure monitor, stethoscope, computer allowance, cell phone allowance, immunization costs, etc.
Health Insurance and Clinic Fee
Covers the usage of Student Health Services.
Transportation
Covers expenses related to getting to and from school.
Exam Fees
Covers NBDE I and II and ADEX fee.
Additional costs directly related to attending our program may necessitate an increase in the educational budget in order to be able to borrow additional funding. Requests for an increase in the budget should be directed to the Office of Student Financial Services (215-898-1988).
