A Stakeholder Dialogue – Accelerating Oral Health Research and Evidence-informed Policies in the WHO African Region
This conference, held November 15-16, 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya, was co-sponsored by the Center for Integrative Global Oral Health (CIGOH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) African Office. The overarching objective of the conference was to discuss findings and inform recommendations to accelerate the creation, dissemination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of oral health policies in the WHO African region. During the conference, deans from dental schools, WHO representatives, chief dental officers and other government officials, deliberated on recommendations to guide the region toward a successful implementation of oral health strategies and action plans.
The outcome of the meeting was the Nairobi Declaration and new relationships that will establish positive change for oral healthcare in Africa.
