Professional Biography

Dr. Matei is a full-time Faculty in Periodontics at University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She previously served as a full-time Faculty in Periodontics at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. She completed her specialty training in the Department of Periodontology & Implant Dentistry at NYU College of Dentistry. Prior to that, Dr. Matei was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for a Master of Science degree in Biomaterials from NYU.

Dr. Matei continued her post-graduate education in implantology as an ITI Scholar in Bern, Switzerland, where she trained under the supervision of Professor Daniel Buser. Recently, she completed the CDM Faculty Implant Fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Dennis Tarnow.

Dr. Matei has co-authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals and her main research interests are: in vivo and in vitro characterization of biomaterials for the reconstruction/regeneration of tissue; dental implants, and periodontal regeneration
