Dr. Katherine France is an Assistant Professor of Oral Medicine at Penn Dental Medicine. She obtained both her DMD and Master of Bioethics (MBE) from the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to complete her Residency in Oral Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, serving as the chief resident during her second year. Upon completion of her residency program, Dr. France received the Robert Schattner Award for Outstanding Oral Medicine Resident, in honor of her achievements and contributions to the department. Dr. France currently teaches clinically in the Oral Diagnosis and Emergency and Medically Complex Clinics in the School of Dental Medicine and didactically on a wide range of subjects relating to oral medicine, ethics and professionalism, and patient management. Her scholarly work also focuses on both oral medicine and questions of ethics in education and patient care. In addition to her faculty responsibilities, Dr. France also serves as an attending dentist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and treats general dentistry, medically complex, orofacial pain, salivary gland and oral mucosal lesion patients at the Penn Dental Family Practice at University City.
