Dr. Henschel serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Community Oral Health at Penn Dental Medicine and Program Director of a new AEGD Program. He obtained his D.D.S from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1986 and went on to complete his General Practice Residency at the Buffalo Veterans Administration Center in Buffalo, New York in 1987. Prior to his appointment at Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. Henschel was on faculty in New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry, serving as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine. During this time, he led the NYU Special Patient Care Clinic as Director and was Course Director for Clinical Management of Patients with Special Needs, as well as the honors program in Clinical Management of Patients with Special Needs. Dr. Henschel started teaching at NYU on a part-time basis in 1987, first as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral Medicine until 1991, and then as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine until 2015.
