Professional Biography

Dr. Berardi is an Associate Professor of Clinical Oral Medicine and the Director of Medical Consultation at Penn Dental Medicine. He received his DDS from the University of Buffalo in 1976 and went on to complete his General Practice Residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Reading, PA in 1977. He also completed a second residency in Anesthesiology at George Washington University Hospital & Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 1979. Dr. Berardi served as a Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve Dental Corps from 1981 to 1989 and was awarded the U.S. Naval Achievement Medal twice in 1982 and in 1987. He joined the faculty at the University of Buffalo as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 1988 and held the position until 2000. Dr. Berardi served as a Clinical Associate from 2008 to 2013 and Clinical Associate Professor from 2013 to 2017 in the Department of Oral Medicine and the Oral and Diagnosis/Emergency Clinic at Penn Dental Medicine. He has also served as an attending dentist in Oral Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania since 2012. Dr. Berardi has been recognized for his excellence and commitment to teaching, receiving the Joseph L.T. Appleton Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching in 2015 and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Faculty Member Award in 2018.
