Dr. Tun-Jan Wang, D.D.S., D.M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he serves as the Predoctoral Director of Periodontics. He received his D.D.S. from Chung Shan Medical University in Taiwan and completed dual specialty training in Periodontics and Periodontal Prosthesis at the University of Pennsylvania in 2021. He subsequently earned his D.M.D. from Penn Dental Medicine and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Wang is actively involved in predoctoral and postgraduate periodontal education, with a focus on clinical teaching, curriculum development, competency assessment, digital dentistry, implant therapy, dental photography, and periodontal-prosthetic interdisciplinary care. As Predoctoral Director of Periodontics, he works closely with students, residents, faculty, and clinical teams to support evidence-based periodontal education and patient-centered clinical training.
His scholarly work includes contributions to periodontal-prosthetic and implant-related topics, including forced eruption, molar-incisor pattern periodontitis, CBCT-based implant planning, implant-related biofilm, surgically facilitated orthodontic therapy, and ridge augmentation. His previous honors include the Arnold S. Weisgold Director’s Award, the Dr. Colin Richman Family Perio-Ortho Interface Award, and the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring Award.
