Dr. Dana Graves Recognized with Wound Healing Research Scholarship

Philadelphia — Dr. Dana Graves, Vice Dean for Scholarship and Research and Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Periodontics, was recently recognized for his research as a 2016 Wound Healing Research Scholarship recipient. The award was presented at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care/Wound Healing Society Annual Meeting, held April 13-16 in Atlanta.

The Wound Healing Society selected Dr. Graves as its 2016 Wound Healing Research Scholarship winner based on research presented at the annual meeting recently held in Atlanta. Dr. Graves’ was selected for his research titled, “Epithelium Regulates Connective Tissue Wound Healing Mediated by the Transcription Factor FOX01.” This work has shown the critical role that the FOX01 molecule plays in the response to wounds, providing new insight into how epithelial cells regulate connective tissue healing. Previous work with this molecule has shown that it also plays a pivotal role in diabetes impaired re-epithelialization.

Dr. Graves was presented with the award by Dr. Andrew Baird, Wound Healing Society President, during a special reception and dinner on the evening of April 14 at Symposium on Advanced Wound Care/Wound Healing Society Annual Meeting.
