Dirk L. Brunner Appointed to Penn Dental Medicine Board of Overseers

Philadelphia – Penn Dental Medicine welcomes Dirk L. Brunner as the newest member of its Board of Overseers. His appointment for a three-year renewable term was officially approved by the University of Pennsylvania’s Board of Trustees at its February 2017 meeting.

Brunner is Senior Vice President, Microsurgery, leading the Carl Zeiss Meditec Division that focuses on providing visualization and treatment solutions that enable minimally invasive surgery, primarily in dental, neuro, spine, ENT, and radiation oncology applications. Prior to assuming this role in 2013, he was co-head of Carl Zeiss Meditec’s U.S. Sales & Service Organization and has been part of ZEISS for nearly 20 years. He is based in at the company’s headquarters in Oberkochen, Germany.

Brunner holds BS and MS degrees in biomedical engineering from Brown University and an MBA from Ashridge Business School, London.

The Penn Dental Medicine Board of Overseers provides volunteer leadership to the School and acts as an advisory resource for the Dean and other administrative leaders, stewarding the missions of both Penn Dental Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania. With Brunner’s appointment, the Board now has 19 members.
