Penn Dental Medicine Renews MOU with Jagiellonian University Medical College
Philadelphia- Penn Dental Medicine and Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland have renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This renewal marks a continued commitment to fostering academic collaboration and advancing dental education and research between the two esteemed institutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by Penn Dental Medicine’s Morton Amsterdam Dean, Dr. Mark Wolff, and Dr. Uri Hangorsky, Clinical Professor of Periodontics, alongside distinguished representatives from Jagiellonian University Medical College. The renewed MOU will further strengthen the partnership, facilitating joint research projects, faculty exchanges, and student programs.
“This MOU renewal signifies our shared dedication to advancing dental education and research,” says Dean Wolff. “We are excited to continue working closely with Jagiellonian University Medical College to foster innovation and excellence in the field of dentistry.”
In addition to the signing ceremony, Dean Wolff and Dr. Hangorsky traveled to Warsaw University, where they participated in 18th International Conference West -East, University of Warsaw, with Dr. Wolff presenting a lecture on Oral Healthcare for Persons with Disabilities and several courses with members of Penn Dental Medicine’s Department of Endodontics. “This visit underscores our dedication to expanding our educational outreach and enhancing the global exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of endodontics,” says Dr. Bekir Karabucak.
As part of the visit to Poland, Dr. Karabucak and Dr. Sumin Lee, Assistant Professor of Endodontics at Penn Dental Medicine, a full day of lectures and hands-on training on endodontics at the University of Warsaw. Dr. Karabucak delivered talks on vital pulp therapy, canal disinfection, and microsurgery, while Dr. Lee focused on regenerative endodontics. They also conducted hands-on training sessions on canal instrumentation, retreatment, and obturation (Dr. Karabucak), and regenerative endodontics (Dr. Lee). This program was organized as an extension of the Dean’s activities, who was the keynote speaker, further enriching the educational experience for participants.
Penn Dental Medicine renewed its MOU with Warsaw University in March 2025, and since the fall 2024 has signed six new MOUs with schools in Türkiye, Germany, Cyprus, Guyana, Nigeria, and Portugal.
