Resident Profiles

Dr. Clayton Blackwell is a current PGY-2 resident in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2024 with his DDS. Upon graduation, he was the recipient of the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology Award, the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award, and the Donald A. Kerr Award in Oral Pathology.

Dr. Hayden Han is a current PGY-2 resident in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Texas A&M College of Dentistry in 2021 with a D.D.S. degree. At commencement, he received the Academy of Operative Dentistry Award. He continued his training in General Practice Residency from Michigan Medicine Hospital for medically complex, special needs patients and emergency cases. He possesses an enthusiasm for diagnosing and treating oral conditions including orofacial pain, and eagerly anticipates providing care for patients requiring hospital-based treatment. Dr. Han is honored to be part of this program, and excited to meet and interact with patients in Philadelphia.

Dr. Sai S. Vejella is a current PGY-2 resident in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Government Dental College & Research Institute with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and later earned a Master of Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Southern Mississippi. As a Clinical Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine & Diagnostics at Case Western Reserve University, Dr. Vejella deepened his expertise in diagnosing and managing complex oral conditions. He is passionately committed to both patient care and oral health education, having served as a Teaching Assistant where he taught courses in Oral Diagnosis and Radiology. Dr. Vejella is also the founder of For A Cause Team Service (FACTS), demonstrating his dedication to community service and health advocacy.

Dr. Aavishi Arora is a current PGY-1 resident in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Dr. D.Y. Patil Dental College and Hospital in 2022 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) degree. She completed a Master of Science in Oral Health Sciences at Temple University, where she conducted Machine Learning research on Oral Cancer Mortality among Adults in the United States and presented her findings at the 2024 IADR Conference in New Orleans. Her thesis received a competitive research award from Temple University in recognition of excellence in data-driven oncology. She also volunteered at the Community Dental Clinic, providing care to HIV-positive and underserved populations. Additionally, she co-authored a publication on oral candidiasis in HIV patients in Disease-a-Month

Dr. Kristen Horstmann is a current PGY-1 resident in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from UCLA in 2022 with her DDS, where she was also granted the Crest/Oral-B Scholarship for Dental Students Pursuing Academic Careers. From there, she went on to General Practice Residency at UCSF from 2022-2023, with a strong emphasis on oral oncology and oral surgery. In the following years, she was an Oral Surgery intern with Mt Sinai/Jacobi Hospitals as well as a Dental Oncology Fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City.

Dr. Ng is a current PGY-1 resident in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from The University of Maryland, School of Dentistry in 2024 with a D.D.S. degree. Upon graduation, she was the recipient of the Comprehensive Dentistry, General Practice Directors’ Award. She then completed a General Practice Residency Hospital Dentistry at The University of Michigan, caring for people with special needs, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and medically complex backgrounds in a clinic dedicated to them and their needs.

Dr. Bidisha Ray is a PGY-1 resident in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine (Class of 2027). She earned her BDS from Bharati Vidyapeeth Dental College and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Michigan. Her clinical background includes general dentistry and prosthetic rehabilitation for oncology patients, and her research interests focus on the intersection of systemic health and oral diseases. She is also an active mentor with Pathful Connect, where she promotes dental health awareness among schoolchildren.

Dr. Ridhima Seth is a PGY-1 resident in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She began her dental career with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in India before pursuing advanced training in research and clinical sciences. She earned her Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc) with Honors from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she was awarded the highly competitive Harvard University Presidential Scholarship. Upon graduation, she received the James H. Shaw Award for outstanding achievement in research training and scholarly contributions.
