Penn Dental Medicine and Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry Sign MOU to Advance Global Dental Education
Philadelphia, PA – Penn Dental Medicine and Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry have formalized a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing global collaboration in dental education, research, and clinical training. This partnership will strengthen the academic and clinical expertise of both institutions through faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and a shared commitment to innovative dental practices.
Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry is the second dental school outside of North America to receive the CODA accreditation status after King Abdulaziz University Faculty of Dentistry in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The formal signing occurred during a recent visit to Istanbul by Penn Dental Medicine faculty, coinciding with the participation of Morton Amsterdam Dean, Dr. Mark S. Wolff, in the 2024 World Dental Federation (FDI) Conference.
“We are thrilled to establish this collaborative relationship with Yeditepe University through this MOU,” said Dean Wolff, who signed the agreement alongside Dr. Bahar Eren Kuru, Dean of Yeditepe University’s Faculty of Dentistry. “This partnership offers tremendous opportunities for academic and clinical growth for both institutions.”
Dr. Bekir Karabucak, Chair of Endodontics at Penn Dental Medicine, emphasized the mutual benefits of the agreement. “This MOU is a testament to our commitment to fostering student exchange programs and hosting joint seminars and conferences, which will further strengthen the ties between our institutions.”
Dr. Karabucak, Dean Wolff, and other faculty and alumni from Penn Dental Medicine participated in the 2024 FDI World Dental Federation Conference, which brought together global leaders in dental practice, research, academia, and industry. The event provided a platform for sharing cutting-edge innovations and fostering continuing education in the field of dentistry.
In addition to the FDI Conference, Dean Wolff also joined faculty and alumni for the Where East Meets West Penn Dental Medicine Alumni Trip to Turkey event. As part of the Penn Dental Medicine Destination Travel CDE Program.
