The Penn Dental Medicine Society is comprised of all Penn Dental Medicine alumni who have successfully completed one or more of the accredited programs of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine – this includes those who graduated with a D.D.S. or D.M.D, received a Certificate of Proficiency in Dental Hygiene, and/or a Certification from any one of the School’s Departments of Advanced Education.
The administrative body of the Penn Dental Medicine Alumni Society is the Alumni Society Executive Committee. Both the Penn Dental Medicine Alumni Society and the Executive Committee are governed by the By-laws, which are maintained by the Executive Committee. Executive Committee is comprised of three leadership members (President, Vice President, and the immediate Past President) as well as 30 members-at-large.
The Executive Committee also includes ex-officio members who are invited to serve as liaisons from their separate alumni groups. This currently includes Penn Dental Medicine’s Dental Hygiene Alumni Association, Dean’s Council, and Board of Overseers.
The Executive Committee is aided by a dedicated staff member, who attends all board meetings and a number of committee meetings, in addition to providing data, resources and serving as a liaison to Penn Dental Medicine administrators.
The goals of the Executive Committee are to connect alumni with each other, the School of Dental Medicine and the University through events, programs, communication and various outreach initiatives. Specifically, the board’s purpose is:
All Penn Dental Medicine alumni are invited to be part of the Alumni Society Executive Committee. Interested alumni who are formally nominated will run for open positions in the spring and, if elected, serve a three year term beginning July 1.
