Admissions Requirements

Applicants to the Medically Complex Patient Care Fellowship are expected to have a strong background in the biological and health sciences. Although Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Dental Aptitude Test, and National Board scores are not required, they can be submitted in support of the application. Advanced dental education in a GPR or dental specialty is recommended. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a DDS/DMD or an equivalent foreign degree. A copy of the academic transcript should be evaluated by World Education Services or an equivalent organization in the U.S.(https://www.wes.org)
  • Demonstrate a proficiency in English through submission of the TOEFL examination score (Both Written and Spoken English). The candidate will be exempt from this requirement if they have completed at least 2 years of advanced dental education in the US prior to joining this program.

Applying to the Program

Application Deadline: March 15
Fellowship applicants must submit the following information to be considered for the program:

  • Submit a completed application to the Department of Oral Medicine — call 215-746-8857 or 215-898-6628 for an application
  • Three letters of reference from current or former dental school professors or current/former employers
    A personal interview will be conducted for all shortlisted candidates.

The candidates will self-disclose the immigration status and the right to live and study in the United States. If a visa is required by the candidate, the department and the University may help to get a J-1 visitor scholars visa provided the candidate shows evidence of full health insurance coverage for self and spouse or children.

The Medically Complex Patient Care Fellowship is not accredited by the Commission on Dental accreditation.

Fees

The annual fee for the Medically Complex Patient Care Fellowship is $57,000. Additional fees are applicable to individuals applying for the Masters programs after completion of the Fellowship.
