Externships
Re-Welcoming Outside Dental Students as of September 2023
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania offers 1-week or 2-week externships in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for interested third- and fourth-year dental students who are contemplating this discipline. The extern will have the opportunity to work in the outpatient unit; observe major surgery; and be involved in multiple didactic conferences in orthognathic surgery, pathology, and pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery. Trauma management and emergency room coverage is also a component of externship. In addition, rotating at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia affords broad exposure to pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery.
