Research Day celebrates and showcases the considerable research activities at Penn Dental Medicine. The day is a wonderful opportunity for our dental students, residents, graduate students, faculty and researchers to present their research projects and interact. The morning program will feature presentations by the School’s basic science and clinical faculty followed by the Joseph L. Rabinowitz Memorial Lecture. The afternoon will be highlighted by the poster competition and keynote speaker.

We look forward to a day of exchange and collaboration with colleagues across disciplines that highlights the quality, depth and diversity of the School’s research. Penn Dental Medicine continues to build as a leader in the generation of new knowledge and cultivation of the next generation of oral researchers.

Penn Dental Hygiene alumni are invited to the Dental Hygiene Alumni Association’s annual meeting and presentation of the Dental Hygiene Alumni Special Achievement Award. Luncheon to immediately follow.

11:00 – 12:00 PM Crafting Your Legacy: Tools to help you and your family
William W.M. Cheung Auditorium

In this session, you’ll hear about tools you can use to make smart choices for yourself and your family – particularly as you consider the impact of income, gift and estate taxes and the potential changes coming from our nation’s capital. We’ll also talk about some of the alphabet soup things like IRAs, RMDs, CGAs, Capital Gains, and more!

In recognition of the distinction and achievement of Penn Dental Medicine alumni celebrating their 50th reunion and or more, the School invites classes of 1967 and prior to the annual Luminary Society Luncheon. Join us in meeting fellow Penn Dental Medicine alumni, share memories of your time at Penn Dental, and hear how your alma mater is shaping the future of care in 2018.

The last several decades have been a time of extraordinary change in the dental profession with tremendous shifts in how dentists practice, but also how students are educated. Join Dr. Markus Blatz, Chair of the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, as he reflects on current dental innovations and shares his insights about how Penn Dental graduates are still leading the profession and shaping the future of care.

5:00 – 7:00 PM Alumni Weekend Celebration

Join fellow classmates and friends for a special reception celebrating all Penn Dental reunion classes as well as honoring this year’s recipients of the Penn Dental Medicine Alumni Society Awards, including the Thomas Evans Achievement Award and the Alumni Award of Merit. The reception will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and tours of the newly renovated spaces.

Doors will be open for alumni to stop in, peruse old yearbooks and memorabilia, and relax with mimosas and light breakfast fare.

11:15 – 11:30 AM Parade Line-Up

Grab your class flag before heading down to the parade. We will depart the School at 11:30 AM to line up for the University’s Alumni Parade on Locust Walk. You are invited to walk with us from the School or meet us on Locust Walk in the designated Professional School line-up area.
12:00 – 12:30 PM Alumni Parade
Locust Walk

Display your Penn pride by marching with the Dean, Alumni Society President, and fellow alumni to the Penn Dental Medicine picnic on College Green.

Please note we will depart the School at 11:30 AM to line up for the Parade on Locust Walk. You are invited to walk with us from the School or meet us on Locust Walk in the designated Professional School line-up area.
12:30 – 3:30 PM Penn Dental Medicine Alumni Picnic
College Green

Join fellow alumni for a picnic lunch on College Green with a special appearance by President Amy Gutmann. This is a great opportunity to bring your entire family as activities will be available for kids of all ages as well as entertainment including a DJ and performances by the Glee Club and Penn Band. Vegetarian and Kosher meals will be available.

*Cost: $40 per person pre-registration/$45 after May 5; $15 children ages 6-16; no charge for children 5 and under
12:30 – 3:30 PM Fun Zone

We invite children of all ages to enjoy arts, crafts, and entertainment throughout campus at our various Fun Zone locations!

4:00 – 6:00 PM Quaker Kids

Bring the whole family to paint the campus Red and Blue! Stop by after the Picnic for great treats, fun activities and a screening of a movie! Most appropriate for children ages ten and under.
